Bones 04:40
What can you do when two loves collide Which to deny and with which to side I'm a river running dry When I could be a life giving tide I can feel my bones rearranging Take the pain with a smile I can see winds are changing Can I stay here a while I see the burden on your face I ran the race yeah I ran in place I can't deny the man I am I hope that you can understand That I feel my bones rearranging Take the pain with a smile I can see winds are changing Can I stay here a while I can hear water rushing Come and wash over me Put these bones back together Carry me to the sea

Chimes 04:20
Oh save us I fear that we are losing touch We're just piles of dust Tossed into the wind rushing through us Oh make haste Before the burdened down lay waste Move on to brighter days Unless you think your dreams better erased It's high time We take a different frame of mind But we can't read the signs Saying it's the blind leading the blind I'm alright I'm seeing with a different sight So come with me tonight And promise that you'll hold onto me tight As we go where the wind blows All we know Days will come and go Until we float into the river Oh save us I feel that we're losing touch We're just piles of dust Tossed into the wind rushing through us Oh make haste Before the burdened down lay waste Move on to brighter days Unless you think your dreams better erased
3.
I ask for nothing in return Just heap these coals on your head And let them burn Sit back and hope that you learn Before you're nothing but ashes Hope soon you'll feel what the catch is I try but the key doesn't turn You've bolted all of your doors Shut them firm I left you room to discern But now you're down to your rations Locked up solitary fashion We're all dying We're one and the same Blood runs in our veins We're not islands Why do we resort to violence Kill with kindness Love leads on to love And hate leads to hate So let's try this What's there to lose but what binds us
4.
We're letting this burn into our core Put out the fire Gave it a try But we're keeping it smouldering We don't give or take anymore Living the life Rolling the dice But under the skin we're blistering We take what we pick off the floor We have the time We can decide And this is what we've settled for It feels as if we're keeping score Playing a game No one can win Let's give in because... This night is alive As we look to the skies And try to open our eyes The truth takes hold When we give up control And we learn the art of letting go
5.
Chasing the wind don't you know You'll waste away on the impossible Time will tell so let it flow This is the way This is the way it goes All I know Days come and go I find the way beautiful All our plans They're hypothetical Time will tell so let it flow This is the way This is the way it goes All I know Days come and go I can't change a thing That each day brings This is the way it goes This is the way I know

The Weight 03:00
You have paid your dues over Yet you carry the weight of a mission bell Such a weight upon your shoulders Still your eyes burn through the clouds You are loved but it's held ransom Until you've done your father proud You feel like a fading passion Still your eyes burn through the clouds
8.
Knocked Down 03:46
Knocked down but not done You find a way to fire off two shots and they run You hear your father saying go make your way son The weight you carry is every pound worth the burden And it will lift in time Go chase the sunset Make sure to lead a life that won't lead to regret I know sometimes it feels like taking your first step Please believe me son if you keep your sight set You'll find the key to life So ramble on Sing your song Get on your way Ramble on Sing your song Get on your way or it'll never get better
9.
You have paid in time For your beautiful mind You have drawn your lines And found true life I've come to say goodbye Yet you look so alive Wisdom of the years Is learned so slow I've come to say goodbye Yet you look so alive The time has come You're not afraid to die The light is in your eyes You pull me close And use your final breath To speak these words to me If you've got the light Unveil your eyes Don't let this life Cover your light
10.
I shot the sky with my eyes open wide Knowing full well this can't be undone I shot the earth with my greed. It's my curse Because I know I can't outrun my gun I filled the seas with the darkest disease I could pull from the veins of the earth Open the wound. Let it bleed. Let it run Then we'll burn up and block out the sun Now we pay Nowhere to run away We've chased the sunset and found nowhere to escape our fate
11.
Spinning 05:14
Your words are spinning in my head While the world is failing me What you don't understand Our different desires Make your words so hard to see Your words sink like stones Yet they carry a tone That echos in my head It spins in my head Your words are spinning in my head While the world is failing me What you can't understand Our different desires Make your words so hard to see We're flesh and bones Tied and tethered We get on together Depending on our measures.

about

Measures is the third release by Jeff Pike (Windborn). Acoustic based yet, as usual, not at all what you expect from an acoustic based album.

Jeff's simply massive approach to music has resulted in another bare-bones, basic, yet huge sounding, album. Measures features cellist Nils Loewen and captures the duo's live performance almost exactly. You may notice the fairly simple percussion used on this album. Simply recorded but not so simple live. Jeff plays the kick drum with his foot while playing guitar and singing. He also loops in Djembe and Cajon. Nils rocks the cello and stomps the hell out of a tambourine.

As tempting as it is to record more instruments and make an album sound as big as possible Jeff figures out what's possible to do live and sticks very close to that for recording.
